In 2001 Kate Hege graduated from the University of Kansas with high honors and a joint Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish Literature and Language and Latin American Studies. During college she studied abroad in Jalapa, Mexico and Barcelona, Spain. After college she traveled extensively Mexico, Guatemala, Cuba, Belize, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil. In 2006 Kate graduated with a J.D. from UC Hastings College of the Law.

Kate's passion for social justice guided her to the Dolan Law Firm where she fights for women and men who are injured, who have been cheated out of their wages, and who have been discriminated against or harassed in the workplace. Kate serves the Spanish-speaking clients at the Dolan Law Firm and frequently meets with Latino community groups across Northern California to educate people about their rights. In addition, Kate has spent countless Saturdays volunteering at Instituto Laboral de la Raza in San Francisco, a resource center for the working poor.

Kate came to the Dolan Law Firm from a background in public interest law. Kate spent her law school career clerking in plaintiff's side firms, working for non-profits, and promoting public interest work. During law school she served on the board of the UC Hastings Public Interest Law Foundation and in student government. Kate also spent a semester interning in Senator Sheila Kuehl's office in Sacramento. During law school she wrote a bill to protect California's water quality and participated in a coalition that lobbied to create a state program for loan forgiveness for public interest attorneys. Before graduating she was honored by her classmates, UC Hastings staff, and her professors with an "Outstanding Student Leader" award.

In her spare time, Kate loves to hike, camp, and cross country ski in the beautiful Bay Area as well as the Sierras. In addition, she enjoys marathon training and fundraising with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training. She completed the Los Angeles Marathon, her first marathon, in March of 2008.
